MSR Design principal Kate Michaud and senior associate Lauren Gardner will be panelists and design challenge leaders at the Library Journal Design Institute in Columbus, Ohio, on October 8.
Hosted by Library Journal in partnership with our client the Columbus Metropolitan Library (CML), this installment of the library building and design event will offer discussions on the latest trends in library design and explorations into how to plan and design spaces for community libraries at all scales.
This full-day think tank will feature expert panel discussions with architects and librarians, as well as hands-on, architect-led breakout sessions that address real-life design challenges submitted in advance by individual community libraries. Kate and Lauren will lead a design challenge breakout session with Swanton Public Library.
Kate will also colead the “Building Sustainable and Resilient Libraries for Community Well-Being” panel discussion focused on how sustainable design, adaptive reuse, and strategic modernization can transform existing buildings into flexible, high-performing libraries that serve evolving community needs.
Lauren will also colead the “Community-Driven Library Design and Engagement” panel discussion, exploring how meaningful engagement, user experience research, and stakeholder collaboration can shape projects that reflect local needs, culture, and aspirations.
