Kathryn Merta

Kathryn joined MSR Design in 2022 after graduating from the University of Minnesota. She received a METROPOLIS Future 100 Award that school year for her interest in creating sustainable, biophilic, and healthy spaces. In 2023, she was named one of Interior Design's 30/30, celebrating emerging talents in the Minneapolis design scene. Kathryn believes that thoughtful design can profoundly improve lives, an ideal that fuels her work. She is committed to enhancing occupant well-being through holistic design approaches. In her current role, Kathryn continues to align her work with the firm’s commitment to sustainable practices that positively influence both people and the planet.

What are your favorite activities outside of work?

I love to travel at every opportunity I get (Japan and Denmark are my favorites), visit cafes, thrift shop, read, cook, and get active outside.
