MSR Design announces the elevation of Jeffery Davis and Kate Michaud to firm principals. Through these promotions, the firm recognizes their exceptional leadership, client relationships, mentoring skills, and focus on collective responsibility to projects and clients—all which consistently enhance the quality and impact of MSR Design's work.
The promotions reflect a recent firm-wide restructuring that redefines principal as a project-centered role, creating clear pathways for talented individuals to lead projects at the highest level. As principals, Kate (director of project delivery) and Jeff (leader of firm's Utah office) will guide teams through complex design challenges, set the standard for design excellence, and mentor emerging project leaders.
MSR Design CEO, president, and partner Traci Engel Lesneski states, "Kate and Jeff demonstrate a consistent commitment not only to creating outstanding work, but also strengthening how we work together. They lead with curiosity, authenticity, and care for our clients and colleagues."
Regarding Kate, Traci continues, “Kate leads with intention and generosity, consistently elevating her teams and the work rather than herself. Her influence can be felt across the firm—in how we structure our project processes, how we collaborate across disciplines, and how we support and mentor one another. Her leadership reflects the values at the heart of our practice.”
Kate responds, “I’m honored to step into the role of principal of MSR Design. Being part of this passionate, thoughtful team—whose work advances design excellence, sustainability, and positive impact—has been a great joy, and I’m excited for the work ahead.”
“Since joining MSR Design, Jeff has positively shaped our practice through his leadership,” states MSR Design partner Matthew Kruntorad. He continues, “Jeff connects with people genuinely and instills confidence through thought leadership and passion for our work. As principal, Jeff will undoubtedly draw out the best in our staff and clients, while providing inspiration through his work.”
Jeff notes, “I am honored by the invitation to be a principal of MSR Design. The caliber of our staff and partners creates a unique and incredible culture of design and environmental sustainability. I am excited to participate in leading the continuation of this legacy.”
“These advancements reflect the firm’s ongoing investment in our people and the leadership shaping its future, as well as honoring individuals whose contributions strengthen our projects, our culture, and our ability to make a meaningful difference through design,” says Traci. “We are delighted to welcome Kate and Jeff as the firm’s first principals within our new structure and are looking forward to the bright future their leadership will significantly contribute to ensuring.”
