MSR Design is pleased to announce that the Madison Public Market has achieved LEED Gold certification from the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), recognizing the project's high performance in sustainable design, environmental responsibility, and community impact.
The project involved repurposing an underutilized municipal fleet services building into a vibrant, inclusive community destination. The design focuses on a commitment to food and vendor equity to support Madison’s efforts to eliminate barriers to entrepreneurship for historically disadvantaged populations, while creating an environment that fosters commercial, recreational, and social activity.
Sustainability strategies for the project include easy access by bus, bike, and foot to support low-carbon transportation; on-site solar panels that help power the building and reduce emissions; and water-saving features like efficient fixtures and rainwater collection. LEED Gold certification of the project reflects MSR Design’s ongoing commitment to advancing climate-responsive design and creating places that support people and the planet.
