Missoula Public Library

This new main library will also house three other community organizations (Children’s Museum of Missoula, Missoula Community Access Television, and spectrUM, the University of Montana’s science center) all under one roof.

The design process involved an intensive week-long visioning session with library and partner organization leadership to establish the project goals and guiding principles. The programming process included multiple meetings with the staff and leadership of all four partner groups, as well as formal and informal public input sessions. The selected scheme offers a main floor marketplace including a cafe, store, new library materials, and the audiovisual collection; a children’s suite on the second floor that includes the children’s library, spectrUM, and the Children’s Museum of Missoula; and meeting and event space on the top floor with a large rooftop garden.
