Water Works Park

    Previous Next
    • the design concept for the new Water Works Park creates three overlapping zones: Mill Ruins Park; a park pavilion zone; and an active convergence zone
    • Overview

“Water Works Park commands a dramatic site on the edge of a burgeoning mill district dropping 20 to St. Anthony’s Falls on the Mississippi River. Limestone mill foundations are buried on the riverbank, along with a canal and labyrinth of tunnels that powered the mills. MSR divided the site into three segments defined by zones of passive recreation around the ruins, active uses along the canal entrance, and a series of pavilions atop the bluff.”- The Architects Newspaper

MSR has developed a planning study for the new Water Works Park. The Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board is currently gathering public input and raising private funds to support the project, which would be implemented over the next several years.
