    • the new student center has become the hub for student life on campus
    • Overview

This new student center is one of many projects MSR has designed over the past 20 years for the largest private university in Iowa.

The design of the new student center reflects an increasingly diverse student body and campus that offers an environment for lifelong learners and leaders. The architecture responds to existing physical patterns, established in 1857, and addresses dynamic movements of current campus programs and students. Building program elements include a common area where students and staff can gather, eat, and display work; bookstore; coffee shop; cafeteria; student development space; tech lounge; sports/game lounge; and ballroom.

    • students use the commons for studying, meeting with campus groups, and socializing
    • the servery and a coffee shop provide a variety of food offerings
    • a tech lounge on the upper level has easy computer access in a social setting
    • a game lounge provides on-site social and recreational opportunities for a campus with a large commuter population
    • plenty of outdoor gathering spaces offer the opportunity to enjoy the beautiful campus during the spring, summer, and fall
