    • Overview

“It’s a spectacular building, a testament to the creative spirit and to the power of partnerships between the University and the community.”
      —Steven Rosenstone, Former Vice President,
Scholarly and Cultural Affairs, University of Minnesota

Encompassing two buildings and an exterior public streetscape, this new arts education and research facility anchors the newly established Arts Quarter on the West Bank of the University of Minnesota’s Minneapolis Campus (which MSR contributed to the development of). The diverse architectural character for this project stems from four separate goals: to relate to the West Bank’s architecturally disparate buildings; to break down the scale by articulating the center as an ensemble of smaller buildings; to enhance opportunities for arts collaborations; and to allow the architecture to showcase the various physical requirements of art education.
