    • Overview

MSR provided a feasibility study for the renovation of this historic library and museum, listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Located on Capitol Hill in Washington, DC, the Folger Shakespeare Library is a world-class research center on Shakespeare, housing the world’s largest and finest collection of Shakespeare materials and major collections of other rare Renaissance books, manuscripts, and works of art. The library is known for its wide array of scholarly and public programs, including plays, concerts, literary readings, and exhibitions. The feasibility study addresses inadequacies in the lighting, acoustics, and display cabinets within the Exhibition Hall; outdoor exhibition signage; and ADA accessibility. It also provides options for relocating the shop and improving public safety and security on the exterior. Sustainable features will include replacement of interior lighting with LED lighting, new high-performance windows, and possibly using photovoltaics for exterior lighting.

    • proposed exterior renovation work includes the addition of new signage, efficient lighting, and high-performance windows
    • inside, the Exhibition Hall will also receive improved lighting, acoustic treatments, and display options
